Our History

Founded in 1995, the Institute of Electric Power Engineering in Kyrgyzstan was established to meet the growing demand for specialized education in electrical engineering and power systems in the region. What began as a small department with just 5 faculty members and 60 students has grown into a comprehensive institute offering undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs.

Over the past decades, the institute has expanded its facilities, developed new programs, and built strong partnerships with industry and international academic institutions. In 2005, we established our first research center focused on power systems optimization. By 2012, we achieved international accreditation for all our academic programs, and in 2020, we completed a major campus expansion that doubled our laboratory space.
