International Conference Success

The Institute of Electric Power Engineering in Kyrgyzstan is pleased to report the successful participation of our faculty and students at the International Conference on Power Systems Engineering held in Almaty, Kazakhstan from November 2-5, 2022.

Our delegation of 12 faculty members and 8 graduate students presented a total of 15 research papers covering various aspects of power systems engineering, renewable energy integration, and smart grid technologies.

Notable achievements include:

  • Dr. Azamat Karimov delivered a keynote address on "Challenges and Opportunities for Renewable Energy Integration in Central Asian Power Systems"
  • PhD candidate Marat Joldoshev received the Best Student Paper Award for his research on "Optimal Placement of Energy Storage Systems in Distribution Networks with High Renewable Penetration"
  • Dr. Elena Petrova chaired the session on Solar Energy Technologies
  • Our research team's paper on "Hybrid Microgrid Solutions for Rural Electrification in Mountainous Regions" was selected for publication in a special issue of the International Journal of Electrical Power & Energy Systems

"The strong presence of our institute at this prestigious conference demonstrates the quality and relevance of our research activities," said Prof. Bakyt Asanov, Head of the Research Department. "The positive feedback from international peers and the recognition received by our students are particularly gratifying."

The conference provided valuable opportunities for networking with researchers from 25 countries and establishing new collaborative relationships with institutions including Moscow Power Engineering Institute, Technical University of Berlin, and Seoul National University.

Several potential joint research projects were discussed during the conference, particularly in the areas of cross-border power trading, renewable energy forecasting, and resilient power system operation.

The institute extends its gratitude to the Ministry of Education and Science for supporting the delegation's participation in this important international event.
